Well, I did a search on Google and found this from someone discussing the rifle: I took a look at the 770 not too long ago and wasn't impressed. If people had problems accepting the 710, I'm sure they'll have even a tougher time accepting this one. Yes they did away with the nylon receiver guide and returned to a full metal reciever, but in order to ballance the cost, they went with a less expensive type of rifle stock. Don't ge me wrong, I have the 710. In fact I have one of the original ones with the nylon reciever guide in.270 and it's very accurate.
Not to mention that I made a few modifications myself. 'But the new 770 stock is fabricated to similar methods as the Mossberg Rifle that was made to compete with the 710. The new stock doesn't have the metal swivel studs like the old 710. You can to put a sling on it, but I don't think you'd be able to put anything else on it (i.e. Though the stock does have some nice lines and I'm sure people will like the new black color over the old gray, I'm not sure about the trigger guard.
It looks extremely wierd for any rifle. People that had bad comments about the old 710 trigger guard, will certainly not like this one. I hope that on their next redesign they will add bull barrels, tactical style rifle stock (similar to the L96A1), 10 round magazines and change the design of the bolt locking head so that it locks in to the barrel easier. That would be impressive.'
Maybe there is no provision to attach a bipod, after all. I'm pretty sure it's not a swivel one. I think it's a non-moving one.

Maybe someone else has has one already that can shed some light on this. I bought a 770.300 win mag the day before fathers day this year. But before I purchased the rifle, I went to the rack, grabbed a bi-pod, opened it and installed it just to make sure. Although the sling mount is cast into the stock the bi-pod fit as water tight as a bullfrogs butt and still has the provision to use a sling. I chose a 14' bi-pod and even though its a shorter one it does add significant weight to the rifle, as does the butt sock that holds 9 rounds lol.
This is my first hunting rifle and am extremely satisfied with it for the price. I paid 436.00 out the door for the gun/scope combo, bi-pod, sling, butt sock, hard case and a box of federal fusion rounds. After blowing through the entire box i finally hit the target so the factory bore sight job was fouled.
And the bolt would stick after ejecting a shell. A good, thorough cleaning, re lube and some good grease on the bolt combined with a better scope and a muzzle break (maybe glass bedding the action and floating the barrel if necessary.) and it definitely makes for a better than decent hunting rifle with a kick comparable to a.243 and hit quarter size groups at 250 yards. Oh yeah, you probably want to pull the scope off the rail and tighten the mount down. They've been notorious for that.
